Brenda has been involved in helping the community beyond her participation in our church programs. She has been a member and officer of the Eastern Star for over 40 years and was a worthy matron twice as the leader of chapter run meetings. She continues to provide leadership to this Biblically based organization which has provided all types of
services to individuals and groups including fund raising, goodie bags for the homeless, providing puppies for seeing eye dogs, scholarships for ministerial students, helping with the maintenance of a Veterans’ cemetery, and helping a woman and her children with basic needs when moving away from domestic violence.
When Brenda retired from 45 years as a dental assistant, she began work as a care giver for members of our church. Half of
the time she accepted pay, but often she did so on a volunteer basis. She provided rides to doctor’s appointments and to the grocery store, cooked, cleaned, and offered companionship.
This past year and a half, Brenda has had to devote time and energy to support her two adult children. Her son who is disabled and lives with her required surgery on both of his feet and needed to be in a wheelchair. When he was able to resume walking
with the help of a cane, her daughter was diagnosed with cancer. Brenda has been supporting her through 3 surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and hydration therapy, all of which require transporting her daughter to the hospital for weekly or daily visits.
Brenda has been a beacon of light to her church and community because of her humble service to others. She leads by modeling what is needed and inspires others to provide care
and support as she does. Her Christian faith is evident in all that she does.
