This summer, we are going with Jesus to the mountain and hearing his ideas about how life works best for us. We have begun with the beatitudes, reflecting on whom Jesus calls blessed. Drawing on wisdom as diverse as Warren Carter (Matthew and the Margins), Emmet Fox (The Sermon on the Mount), and Mark Scandrette (The Nine-fold Path of Jesus), we are seeking to apply these
principles to our individaul and collective lives. You can watch the services here.
On May 3rd and 17th, we took a deep dive we will continue the series with Part 2 of Blessed Are the Meek. You can also read a morec concise summary of both sermons on Jason's substack, Building Soulforce.
As part of our engagement with these ideas, we have been learing (courtesy of Scandrette) some postures to practice for each of the beatitudes. Mysctical spiritualit teached that we have three centers of knowing, the head (thinking), the heart (feeling), and the body (moving). While each of us have one center we favor, it is helpful to develop each. Perhaps a part of
your practice this week could be to engage your moving center with these movements.
