Tomorrow will be our first worship service of 2025! Together, we will consider something we want to release from 2024 and receive our own "Star Word" for 2025. 

The use of star words, also called “star gifts,” is a prayer practice connected to Epiphany and the new year. The idea is that a list of intention words, or guiding words, are written or printed on paper stars. These paper stars are then arranged, most commonly face down, on the Communion Table or in a large basket. During communion, you will be invited to draw a word, and to use that word as a guiding word throughout the year. Typically, participants are encouraged to trust the word they have drawn, and not to replace the word (but there will be no "star police" present if you want to trade!) You can place your star word somewhere you see it regularly throughout the year to allow consistent reflection on how God has moved through, around or in connection to that word.

And of course, there will be some great music, helpful teaching, and time with great folks.

Christmas Eve 7:00 PM

This night, we are those who dream. The Christmas story reminds us that we are all dreamers. Like thosegathered around the manger, we come to this night each year withawe, wonder, and holy imagination for what is possible. Like Mary, we treasure God’s dream in our hearts and commit to keeping it alive. Like the holy family, we believe and trust in a God who comes to us in the vulnerability of a child. Join us for a service of music, scripture, and candlelight at 7:00 PM Christmas Eve.

We are excited about the oppotunity we have this year to make a difference in the lives of young adults experiencing homelessness in Palm Beach County. Our Christmas Offering this year will be going to Vita Nova. Vita Nova is an organization that provides housing, training, and support for young adults exiting foster care and who otherwise are having a difficult time finding stability in life. Out church will be matching whatever we collect between now and Epiphany Sunday, January 6, to send to them. You can give online here. You can also write a check to Lake Worth United Church of Christ with "Vita Nova" on the memo line.

Through this Sunday we are also collecting for the UCC Christmas Fund, benefitting "Veterans of the Cross," benefitting retired clergy that are in need. You can contribute here or write a check with "UCC Christmas Fund" on the memo line.
