This week, we embarked on our Advent journey. What does it look like to live as those who dream?

The prophets, the psalmists, John the Baptist, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph, Simeon, Anna, the shepherds and the Magi—they were all dreamers. They received, discovered, and responded to God’s dreams for the world. In Advent, we step into the mystery and awe of God’s dreams and pray they shape our reality.

This series is for the dreamers in all of us—those who dream of a deeper connection with God and those who dream of a better world. It’s for those who dream of comfort and for those who have given up on their dreams. It's for those whose dreams have been crushed and for those who show us that dreams take time. Join us this Advent as we dream alongside prophets and angels, Mary and the Magi. Join us as we seek and sow God’s dreams for our world.

Our next Sunday together we will remember the story of John the Baptist and remind ourselves that "Those That Dream...Prepare a Way." You can watch the service and see previous services here.

Gather Potluck This Sunday

Join us this Sunday for our monthly potluck lunch. A high temperature of 75 degrees is expected so we're going to meet in our fellowship hall. So if you would like to bring a casserole, have at it! Or bring whatever else you're good at. And, of course, if time and/or money are a crunch this week, just bring yourself. There is always plenty of food to share. If you can, bring a place setting to reduce our waste and time in the kitchen. We will begin our Christmas feasting a little early!

We are excited about the oppotunity we have this year to make a difference in the lives of young adults experiencing homelessness in Palm Beach County. Our Christmas Offering this year will be going to Vita Nova. Vita Nova is an organization that provides housing, training, and support for young adults exiting foster care and who otherwise are having a difficult time finding stability in life. Out church will be matching whatever we collect between now and Epiphany Sunday, January 6, to send to them. You can give online here. You can also write a check to Lake Worth United Church of Christ with "Vita Nova" on the memo line.

Through this Sunday we are also collecting for the UCC Christmas Fund, benefitting "Veterans of the Cross," benefitting retired clergy that are in need. You can contribute here or write a check with "UCC Christmas Fund" on the memo line.
