Do Unto Others

How do you want to be treated?

There’s a phrase, commonly known as The Golden Rule, that simply states: “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” A version of this teaching can be found in almost every major religion. This universal rule holds the power to bring people together. And it just might help us be the best version of ourselves in the coming weeks and months.

You are invited to join us for a new worship series beginning Sunday, October 6th  at 10:30 on-site at the campus of Iglesia Adventista del Séptimo Día at 1415 North K ST in Lake Worth Beach or online at lakeworthucc.org/DUO. It will be an experience of inspiring music, practical teaching, and a warm welcome.

This Sunday we continued our engagement with Season of Creation by observing Sky Sunday. You can find the service here. 

Our spiritual practice this month is "Wandering in Nature," as suggested by Bill Plotkin in his book Soulcraft: Crossing into the Mysteries of Nature and Psyche (pp. 168-169). 

Find a time when you can go out and be in nature, experience it, even talk to it. What do you hear?

This week we received the additional invitation to use that time to spend 15 minutes looking up into the sky. What do you experience? Let us know here.

Our first Justice Ministry Listening Meeting of the year will be Saturday afternoon, September 28th at 2:00 PM at the church office and via Zoom. Caol Lewis will facilitate this meeting where we will tell our stories of problems we see in our community and renew our commitment as a church to practicing justice. You can join us in person in the church office or online here.

Our choir will be back beginning October 6th to help lead us in worship. If you would like to join them, they will be holding thier first rehearsal of the year next Sunday, September 29th at 9:15 in the sanctuary.

Laudato Si' 

In observance of Season of Creation, we are spending four weeks discussin Laudato Si'. Laudato Si' was the first encyclical (fancy word for letter) written by Pope Francis. We  began by watching a movie called "The Letter." This week, we are discussing chapters 3 & 4 of the letter. We will be meeting in person in the office and here on Zoom at 7:00 PM. On Saturday October 5th we will be walking and running in the CROS Hustle to End Hunger. We are a diamond sponsor of the event his year! You can sign up to walk or run here. You can donate to team Lake Worth UCC here.

The Prom

On Sunday, October 6th, at 2:00 PM we are going as a group to see the musical The Prom at Lake Worth Playhouse. Tickets are $40. See Marilyn Stone to purchase a ticket.
