Reminder: Our Palm Sunday 3/25 worship service will be at 9:00 AM this Sunday. It will be about 30 minutes. Those who are participating in the parade will then go and meet at our parade staging area.

Palm Beach Pride Festival and Parade

We are looking forward to March 23rd and 24th when we will be sharing God's love and the love of our church with the LGBTQ community and Palm Beach County at Pride Palm Beach.

We will have a booth giving out our famous "We Say Gay Bandanas" and meeting people at the event.

Sunday, March 24th, is Palm Sunday and also the Palm BeachPride parade. We will be gathering for an abbreviated worship service at 9:00 AM that week and then those who are able will head over to the parade. 

Tickets 

Everyone who is volenteering at our booth will be provided a ticket. If your name is on the Pride booth sign-up sheet, Pastor Jason will email you a ticket. If your name is not on the list and you are volunteering for a shift at our booth, please email Jason so he can email you a ticket. If you are participating in the parade but are not volunteering to work a shift at our table, you will need to purchase a ticket to enter the festival at Bryant Park. You can purchase those here.

Parade
We would love to have as many people as possible walk with us in the parade to support the puppet, hold our banners, hold our colorful fish, and wave to the crowd. If you know people from outside our church that might want to paticipate, invite them to come! We also will have a very few spots in cars for those who would like to participate and are unable to walk that distance. 

The parade begins at 11:00 AM. We are being encouraged to have our people in place by 10:30 at the latest. We will not know our exact location until Sunday. If you are joining us in the parade, please register here with your phone number so we can keep in touch and provide updated information. Please note, the parade is not a loop like the holiday parade. It will finish at Bryant Park, so plan parking and rides accordingly. If you plan on entering the gates at Bryant Park for Pride, you will need a ticket. For volunteers working a shift at our table, the church will provide you a ticket. Additional tickets can be purchased here for $10, or for $12 at the gate.

Good Friday Service at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist

We have been invited to participate with Taberncale Missionary Baptist Church in their Good Friday Seven Last Words of Jesus service on March 29th at 7:00 PM. Pastor Jason, along with six others, will be sharing a brief message on one of the last phrases spoken by Jesus on the cross. Tabernacle, organized in 1893 and serving as "God's house on the hill," is located at 801 8th St, West Palm Beach, FL 33401. We are looking forward to worshipping together with them.

The 2024 Nehemiah Action will be Monday April 8th at 7:00 PM. It is our annual opportunity to gather with over 1500 members and friends from 20 faith communities in Palm Beach County to hold our elected officials accountable for problems in our community including mental health, police and community relations, and affordable housing.

Lake Worth United Church of Christ was well represented at last week's Lake Worth Beach Street Painintg Festival. Raymond Davilla was a first time sidewalk painter, Bianca Lara and crew from Dreyfoos participated again this year, and Atreyu Lara performed with his band!

Richard Rohr

A teacher appreciated by many of us is Father Richard Rohr, who leads The Center for Action and Contemplation. His daily meditation is an inpsiration to many. A couple of weeks ago, the mediation series spent a week on the important topic of our anger and what we can do with it (thanks Carol for highlighting it for us!) You can see that series here.
