Bud Greene

Dear Friends,

Some of you will get this email twice since I will send it to two different lists that have significant duplication. However, I wanted to let you know that long time First Congregational Church of Lake Worth member, Elvin E. "Bud" Greene, passed away last night. As the child of a pioneer family, Bud lived his entire life right here in Lake Worth and was one of the city's staunchest advocates. A man of many talents, he had careers as a professional singer, speech therapist, and a sailboat captain.

For one so active, the discomfort and limitations of later years was particularly frustrating and, even as we join his family in grieving his passing, we are thankful that Bud is now in comfort and peace.

Please keep Helen Vogt Greene, Bud's wife, and Bud's daughter, Linda Kupferman (and her husband, Ken, and children, Adam and Ashley), in your prayers.

Bud will be buried at sea in a private ceremony.

Peace,

Pastor Jason

I Am Standing Upon The Seashore
Henry Van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship, at my side,
spreads her white sails to the moving breeze and starts
for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength.
I stand and watch her until, at length, she hangs like a speck
of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.

Then, someone at my side says, "There, she is gone"

Gone where?

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast,
hull and spar as she was when she left my side.
And, she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me -- not in her.
And, just at the moment when someone says, "There, she is gone,"
there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices
ready to take up the glad shout, "Here she comes!"
