Maundy Thursday

Join us next Thursday at 6:30 in the sanctuary as we remember Jesus' last night with his disciples with a service of scripture, song, and prayer.

Fair Trade Coffee

Several of you noticed that our coffee tasted better on Sunday! We are pleased to announce that we have begun using Fellowship Blend by Equal Exchange. It is fair trade coffee which means that the farmers that produce it are paid a living wage to produce it.

Equal Exchange's mission is to build long-term trade partnerships that are economically just and environmentally sound, to foster mutually beneficial relationships between farmers and consumers and to demonstrate, through our success, the contribution of worker co-operatives and Fair Trade to a more equitable, democratic and sustainable world.

Try a cup of Fair Trade coffee in a recycled cup this Sunday!

Entombed
You can watch Sunday's sermon here. At this point in Lent, we might feel some of Mary and Martha’s despair after the death of their brother. In raising Lazarus – a foreshadowing of his own resurrection – Jesus shows us the hope that leads us out of despair, the light that can lead us out of the darkness. As we approach the end of our Lenten journey and Jesus’ Passion, we, too, are called out of darkness and into light with new life and hope breathed into us.

This week, send a handwritten note to a friend (or even take her/him out for coffee or lunch) who is dealing with the despair of a personal loss.

Heart of the Matter

Join us Sunday, April 16th as together we celebrate Easter and begin a new series, The Heart of the Matter.  There will be an Easter egg hunt for the kids after the worship service.

The life and death of Jesus had one strong message that was both overt and inherent: love one another. The heart of the matter was love. Ziggy Marley sings, “Love is my religion…with you I share the gift, the gift we now know.” Time and again we hear Jesus offer the disciples a post-resurrection message of empowerment to give to the world what he had given to them. This Easter we will encourage one another to truly live out the heart of the matter.

 Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
