New Worship Series

Join us beginning Pentecost, May 15th for a new worship series featuring the music of Billy Joel. You can find more information on our website.

Earth Day Highlights

On Sunday, April 17 our congregation had time to reflect on the ways we are called to be stewards of the earth as Jason preached on our freedom to help our earth rise again. Nancy Lydon provided a survey of actions we are doing or are willing to do to protect Mother Earth. In Fellowship Hall our members had a chance to check out a display with various materials on environmental justice. Rosemary VonWald read her prize-winning poem reflecting on Katherine Lee Bates's America the Beautiful, which is printed below.

"Oh beautiful for spacious skies,"
now filled with noxious carbon dioxide.
"For amber waves of grain,"
now a parking lot for someone's gain.
"For purple mountains majesty,"
now stripped bare and no one cares.

"Oh beautiful for patriots dream,"
that has turned into a nightmare scream.
"That sees beyond the years,"
a world of pollution and dissolution.
"Thine alabaster cities gleam,"
where there was light, now slums, dark and mean.

"America, America, God shed his grace on thee,"
let us join the world to prevent anarchy,
"And crown our good with brotherhood,"
  - stop pollution by all understood,
"From sea to shining sea,"
stop fossil fuel use by you and me.

Miriam Turns 96

We had a great time celebrating one of our nonagenarian's birthday this Sunday. Miriam turned 96 and we shared a cake in her honor.

Gleaning

A group from First Congregational UCC joined with others to pick cucumbers in Delray Beach last Saturday. Over 10,300 lbs of fresh produce will be provided to Palm Beach County food banks because of our efforts!

Thank You Men's Fellowship!

We had a great time playing BINGO Sunday after worship. Thank you to our men for providing this great opportunity for fellowship!

Congratulations Helen!

Our own Helen Vogt Greene was presented with the Fannie James Pioneer award by The Historical Society of Palm Beach County for her work in curating and championing the Lake Worth Historical Museum. Congratulations Helen!

Stewardship Seminar

Are you interested in learning more about how we can sustain and grow the financial resources we need to continue to fund this practicing community of faith, mercy, and justice? In June, we will welcome Rev. Patrick Rogers, former CPA and current pastor of Fort Lauderdale United Church of Christ, for a seminar on church stewardship.

Sunday Morning Bible Study

Each Sunday morning at 9:30, a Bible study is held in the parlor. This group has made it's way through half of the Psalms since the beginning of the year. You are welcome to join them!

Renewal Book Club

"The Husband's Secret" Liane Moriarty is the novel we will be discussing at the next book club meeting on Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome to join us for an evening of good conversation and dessert.

Audio Visual Team
Our audio visual team is continuing to grow and they need your help. If you are willing to learn our sound and/or projection system, help create worship presentations, or help run our camera on Sundays, please see Vickie Grimes.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
