End Hunger Walk

This Saturday, we will be walking to end hunger with churches from all over Palm Beach County. If you have not had the opportunity to contribute, you still can still give this Sunday. Be praying for our walkers when you wake up Saturday morning!

T Shirt Orders

We are taking orders for new First Congregational United Church of Christ T-shirts. The prices will be $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for children. See Gary Sitler for details and to see sample shirt sizes.

Enneagram Journey Postponed

We are postponing our next Enneagram Journey class until January. We hope to have some more short-term opportunities for learning during the rest of 2016 - keep an eye out!

Peanut Butter Drive

We have collected 178 jars of peanut butter during the month of September. We are extending our collection through October 2nd so that we can go over the top. If you can bring a couple of extra jars this Sunday please do!

Listening Meetings
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Justice Ministry House Meetings over the past few weeks. It was a sacred privilege to hear your stories and experiences. Special thanks to our Justice Ministry Team Members Johanna, Nancy, and Debbie for hosting these meetings and all that committed to be Justice Ministry Network Members for this year. Now the work begins to research the issues we will be engaging and to plan to turn out 90 people to our Nehemiah Action in March. For those that are interested in working on our the homelessness committee, there is a meeting Monday night at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church at 7:00 PM.

Meet Terry Foley
Beginning in October, our "virtual church secretary," Terry Foley, will be taking on more responsibility for our church communication. Terry, who lives in Texas, has been producing our bulletins and weekly newsletters for the past two years. Now, she will also be editing our website and taking over responsibility for gathering news and announcements to go in our publications. You can email her atbulletin@lakeworthchurch.org. Keep in mind that announcements to go in the current week's bulletin or newsletter needs to be sent to her by the previous Sunday. For example, items for the 10/6 newsletter and 10/9 bulletin need to be sent by Sunday, 10/2.

Facebook Live

As much as we love gathering together on Sunday mornings, there are times when we are out of town or otherwise unable to be there in person. You can now watch our worship service live on Facebook right on your computer, tablet, or smart phone. At 10:30 on Sunday just head over to our Facebook page and join us!

Facebook

First, go to our page and "Like" us. However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.  If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with what is happening "between Sundays" on our Facebook page.

Domestic Violence Awareness

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Rebecca Keck, the violence prevention educator for Aid to Victims of Domestic Abuse, will be with us in our worship service on October 16th to make a brief presentation and will join those who are interested after the worship service to present information on domestic violence awareness and prevention..

Bruce Linser Directs

Our own Bruce Linser is directing a new show, playing the next two weeks, at Florida Atlantic University. "Omnium Gatherum" takes place at a dinner party where the subject of 9/11 comes up, with the the various characters holding differing opinions on the causes. You can visit the FAU website for more information and to purchase tickets.

Toiletries Needed

On the first Tuesday of each month we distribute toiletries to our Community Dinner guests. We are currently in need of small soaps, shampoos, deodorants, feminine hygiene products, wash cloths, tooth brushes and tooth paste.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
