Looking for a Great Church?: Loving Others

"A great commitment to the Great Commandments and the Great Commission, with great compassion, will grow a great church."

This Sunday we looked at the third element of the Great Commandment, loving others. Unfortunately, the service wasn't recorded. We explored the power of simply loving others through greeting, serving, and reaching out to one another. We recognized the power of gathering together each week to encourage one another, hold one another accountable, and practice the civility and compassion we long to see in the world around us.

This week, we will move on to the Great Commission, talking about becoming disciples and inviting others into an experience of discipleship to Jesus. I look forward to worshipping with you!

We're On Facebook!

If you are on Facebook, head over to our Facebook page and "Like" us to keep up with what is going on at First Congregational United Church of Christ "between Sundays."

We talked a couple of weeks ago about how one step toward loving God is to create space for God on a daily basis. Pastor Jason listed some ways to do that on his blog this week. You can see his article here. If you aren't the meditator/journaler type, you will enjoy this article from Nancy Ortberg on other ideas for engaging with the Divine.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
