Free Concert!

Toledo, Ohio-based up-and-coming Christian rock band Southbound Fearing will be here at First Congregational in concert next Sunday at 6:00 PM. A last-minute schedule change is bringing a high-quality music experience to our church. Here is what we can all do to make it a success:

1. Get the word out! The primary audience for this band is
teenagers and young adults. This is a great way to expose those you know in this age group to a powerful, positive message in a way they will understand and actually like! Forward this email to those you know!

2. Donate! Southbound Fearing is not charging us for this event; they are trusting God to
provide! We would like to at least cover their expenses, which come to around $200. If you are willing to contribute toward this great opportunity, just put "Concert" in the memo line of your check.

Imagine...Worship

Worship that reflects the passion of our spiritual journey together ...in styles and formats that reflect our diversity, not
sentimentally clinging to past traditions or desperately copying current trends. Consider joining us this Sunday after worship as we begin to imagine what that worship might look like. You do not need to be a musician, just someone who wants to  be a part of facilitating the birth of new worship experiences at First Congregational. A light lunch will be provided.

Vacation Bible School

Children, ages 4 - 12, come to our Vacation Bible School, Step Up and Go Green for Jesus!  It will be here at First Congregational Church on Tuesday through Thursday, August 10 - 12, from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm. Lunch will be served followed by music, Bible stories, games, crafts, and more! And it's all FREE! Registration forms are available by the Welcome Table and in the Office.

Adults and youth interested in kids and our environment, please see Carol Lewis if you are willing to help with our VBS.

Day of Prayer for the Earth

In response to the massive BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Florida UCC youth will be gathering on the beach for a Youth Worship Service at Key Biscayne's Crandon Park on August 22nd at 3:00 pm. Parents and 6th - 12thgrade youth are encouraged to sign up to carpool to Key Biscayne for this opportunity to pray and seek new ways to care for our earth and all its creatures. After the worship service, there will be food and fellowship. Contact Carol Lewis for more info.
