Life's Healing Choices

This Sunday we continue our series on how to move through life's hurts, hang-ups, and habits by looking at
The Transformation Choice. If you have missed any of the past four weeks, you can catch up on Sunday. We will be reviewing each of the four steps thus far and then adding the fifth step all by looking at the life of one of the Hebrew scripture's most interesting characters, Jacob. If you have time before Sunday, you might want to get a head start by reading part of his story in Genesis 31 and 32. It's a great story!

You can watch or hear other messages in the Life's Healing Choices series on our website.

The first opportunity to experience more of what God has for you as part of First Congregational Church of Lake Worth begins this Sunday at 9:15 in the church parlor. We will spend four weeks exploring what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and part of a community of faith. We have a great group so far, but we have space more. We would love to see you there!

Standing With...

Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up the other; but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help.  Ecclesiastes 4:10

I have been reminded a couple of times this week of the importance of standing with someone. So  many people go through a lot of very difficult times alone. As disciples of Jesus, who never leaves us and as members of a faith community who claims to be Jesus' body, I believe we have the opportunity, dare I say the responsibility to stand with those who have no one to stand with them.

It is often not easy. At times it is messy...

  Souper Bowl Sunday

Bring this week's spare change to church this Sunday to put in your favorite team's, the Colts' or the Saints', soup kettle. All of the money collected will be given to the Caring Kitchen, the hot meal program of C.R.O.S. Ministries.

Then, join the Men's Fellowship in the fellowship hall for our annual Tailgate party. Instead of donuts, you'll find wings, nachos, those little hot dogs, and more!

Codependency and More

An 8-week educational support group will be offered through Samaritan Counseling Center in the church parlor on Wednesdays from February 10 through March 31 at 1:00 - 2:30 p.m. The group will get information and share on various topics including boundaries, self-care, self-esteem, assertiveness, and affirmations. Patty Gates, a licensed mental health counselor, and Carol Lewis, a marriage and family therapist, will co-facilitate the group. The cost is $10 per session. To register, call Carol Lewis at 582-6691 or email her.
