Flea Market and Craft Sale

Our Flea Market and Craft Sale is two weeks away on Saturday, November 14th. There are still outside spaces available if you would like to sell your wares. If you are available to volunteer for setup or cleanup or during the day, talk to Bob Lilly or Christopher Lepard. This is also a great opportunity to invite your friends to get to know the wonderful, warm folks of First Congregational United Church of Christ!

Little Free Library
We are excited to announce that First Congregational United Church of Christ will be the home of one of a network of "Little Free Libraries"  that will be popping up all over Lake Worth in the coming weeks. Our library, from which anyone is invited to take a book will start out for books for adults as well as books for children in English and Spanish. Thank you to Lake Worth Neighborhood Association Presidents Association, College Park Neighborhood Association, and Friends of Lake Worth Library for facilitating the grant that was used to purchase the libraries and approving our request to be a steward of one of them. Thank you to Trish, Emerson, and Pastor Jason for being part of the painting party last Saturday and preparing our library for installation.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Service

This Thanksgiving, November 26, 2015, the Lake Worth Interfaith Network will hold a service of gratitude right here at First Congregational United Church of Christ. Take a break from your cooking and join together as participants in the many faith traditions of Lake Worth come together sharing readings, prayer, and songs from their faith traditions.

Living Questions

Join us beginning in October for a new small-group experience. See more on our website.

Project Linus

Project Linus meets Sunday, November 8th, after worship. The mission of Project Linus is to provide love, a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized or otherwise in need, through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans lovingly created by volunteers.  Our volunteers knit, crochet, quilt or make blankets of hand-tied fleece.   In addition, some of our members are involved with making prayer shawls, caps for premies, and scarves for children that are sent overseas to dental clinics. We would love to have anyone who is interested, come and join us.  We will meet next Sunday, Nov. 8, after church in the Parlor. If you need help getting started, we have members who can teach you how to crochet or knit.  It you’d like any additional information, call Betty Rigdon at 964-5926.

Advent Together

On Wednesday evenings during Advent (December 2nd, 9th, and 16th) we will gather together for a soup supper and vespers service of song, scripture and prayer. This is a a great opportunity to take a break from the rush of the season and create space for the presence of God in the midst of the sacred season. It is also an opportunity to spend time with the wonderful folks of First Congregational United Church of Christ! We are currently looking for three individuals or families who would be willing to take responsibility for making a soup for each of our three gatherings. If you are interested, please contact Pastor Jason.

Advent Day of Meditation
The Monday morning meditation group will hold it's next Day of Silent Meditation on Monday, December 15th, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Bring lunch, drinks and a jacket. Requested donation is $20. Call Nancy Lydon at 632-5040 if you have questions.

Annual Meeting
The annual meeting of First Congregational United Church of Christ will be held Sunday, November 22nd, following the worship service. At this meeting, we will approve our 2016 budget as well as elect officers and committee members for the new year. Please plan to attend.

Need a Praycation?
When the stresses of the day are getting to you, head over to 5minPraycation.com. Curated by Rev. John Gage from United Church of Austin, there is a piece of music for each day to uplift your spirits and point your heart to God, from Rachmaninov to Rufus Wainright. Check it out!

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
