Season of Creation

In September we will be engaging The Season of Creation in our worship. In word, song, and visual art we will celebrate our Creator and creation and explore our place in the cosmos. We are asking you to consider participating in two ways. First, we would love for you to bring a potted plant to  place on the chancel (stage) during the month. You can also bring an article from nature that is meaningful to you. Second, do you have a brief testimony to share? An experience important to you related to the earth, the mountains, the sky, or humanity? If so, contact Pastor Jason. You can read more on our website

The Seven

This Sunday we continued our journey through the seven cardinal sins by talking about envy, the discomfort we feel when someone has or achieved something we want. You can watch the service here, including a delightful performance of "The Grass is Always Greener" performed by Bruce Linser and Beth Dimant.

Food Drive

September is one of the months that we collect food for C.R.O.S. Ministries. It is an easy, effective way for us to join with other faith communities to engage the growing problem of hunger in Palm Beach County. You can see what to bring on our website. For a great article about the problem of hunger in Palm Beach County that highlights the work of CROS Ministries see "The New Hungry" in Florida Weekly.

Choir Rehearsals Resume

Our choir does a wonderful job each week in leading and enhancing our worship. They are also a great group to be a part of. They rehearseon Monday evenings at 7:00 PM and on Sunday mornings at 9:15 AM. They are a welcoming, friendly group led by our music director, Bruce Linser. No matter what your musical skill level, you will find a place in our choir! Choir rehearsals resume Monday evening, September 14th, at 7:00 PM.

Listening Meetings

In September we will be kicking off the P.E.A.C.E. year by holding listening meetings in various locations and at various times. The purpose of these meetings is to create a safe, sacred space for us to share our stories of what we are concerned about in our community. Find the times and places for meetings on our website.

 Facebook

If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with what is happening "between Sundays" on our Facebook page. First, go to our page and "Like" us. However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.

Thank You

Thank you for you generous donations to our school supply drive this year. North Grade Elementary was thrilled when we dropped off supplies. North Grade receives many many students from low income families so the supplies are greatly appreciated.

Why I'm Spiritual "and" Religious
I realize that saying this may be swimming against a current, but for me, they each inform and complement the other.  Here’s an analogy. I enjoy playing my trumpet by myself and practice it as I have time. This is like my spirituality. It’s a personal way for me to express myself and to commune with God.

And yet I also enjoy playing my trumpet with others in bands and orchestras. This is like religion (which comes from the Latin “religare” – “to bind together.”)

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
