New Worship Series

This Summer, we will take a brief break from the liturgical calendar to engage a worship series on “The 7,” where we will blow the dust off the seven historical “deadly sins” and their corresponding virtues. How do these 14th century ideas match with 21st century morality and ethics? Do these sins still plague us today? How do they affect us as a society? Can focusing on the 7 virtues help us combat the 7 deadly sins and improve our lives? We’ll leave the guilt aside and learn what The 7 have to teach us! Check out the website for dates and topics.   We'll jump right in next Sunday by tackling the tough but important subject of lust and chastity!

Contemplation and Action

Often in the daily work of faith and justice, it can seem difficult to balance our prayer life and our action life. Recently, Krista Tippett interviewed one of the “nuns on the bus,” Simone Campbell about her work and practice. You can find a link to the "On Being" interview on our website.

Service Day

Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 1st. We will be painting a neighborhood house with "Paint Your Heart Out Lake Worth." Join us as we work together to make our community better!

Let Us Know What You Liked!
Hopefully you have noticed that we have been incorporating different articles in our newsletter besides just the same church info and announcements. Are there specific things you would like to see? Help for your daily life? News from our church in other parts of the world? Let us know!

July Crossroads

This week in the mail you should have received our first-in-a-while edition of The Crossroads newsletter. If you didn't receive one, we may not have your correct mail address. You can see a copy of it here.  If you have received it and read it, pass it along to someone else! Additional copies will be available Sunday morning.

Facebook
If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with what is happening "between Sundays" on our Facebook page. First, go to our page and "Like" us. However, just liking us does not mean that you will see everything we post. Each of our Facebook posts only goes to about 2% of the people who like our page. To make sure you see everything, after you like us, go to the pull-down menu on the "Like" button and click "Get Notifications." This way everything that we post will show up on your own Facebook wall.

Pastor's Blog
This Sunday we talked about the fact that, in Christ, we are all accepted, all adopted as God’s own. Of course, that makes all related in Christ, and sometimes familial relationships can be challenging, to say the least. How do we handle challenging relationships that we have with others? See Pastor Jason's blog for some thoughts.

Gathered Up
This Sunday we inserted ourselves into the first chapter of Ephesians and saw ourselves as the family of God in Christ. You can watch the sermon here.

Online Giving

Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
