Christmas Parade
Join us this Saturday as we once again participate in the Lake Worth Holiday
Parade. We will convene at 5:00 PM on Federal Highway between 8th Ave. North and
9th Ave. North. We have 2,000 candy canes and invitation cards to give out. We
have a small float a couple of cars, but most of us will be walking. This is a
great opportunity to connect with people in our community and county. Join us
and wear red! |
Community Christmas Offering
Last year we began a new tradition here at First Congregational United Church of
Christ. Instead of collecting an offering at Christmas to support the general
operating fund of our church, we decided to give a Christmas gift to our
community by supporting people and organizations that directly influence the
lives of others in Lake Worth and Palm Beach County. You can see more
information, including this year's recipients, and give online at our website.
Day of Silent Meditation
The Monday morning meditation group will hold it's next Day of Silent
Meditation on Monday, December 15th, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Bring lunch, drinks and
a jacket. Requested donation is $20. Call Nancy Lydon at 632-5040 if you
have questions. Music Ministry As our Sunday morning worshiping congregation continues to grow in diversity, the desire has been expressed that we explore a wider variety of music and worship styles when we gather. To do that, we need your help! Do you play an instrument? Did you play an instrument and are you willing to pick it up again? We want to worship in ways that connect with people of many cultures and generations. Would you be willing to accompany congregational singing on a guitar? How about a flute solo at the offertory? How are you willing to participate in our worship service? Let Pastor Jason know Christmas Eve Service
Painting the Stars
Mark your calendar for a new teaching and conversation series beginning
Thursday, January 8th. See our website for more information.
Poinsettias
Poinsettias will once again be available this year to honor or memorialize
loved ones. The cost is $10.00, with proceeds benefiting the Veterans of the
Cross Christmas offering. |
Making Paths Straight
This Sunday we heard God's words through Isaiah and John and contemplated the
call to make straight paths. You can see the sermon here.
Christmas Dreams
Dr. John Button, an expert on dream interpretation will be leading a Christmas
Sunday Session on December 21 right after the worship service in the Parlor on
Your Christmas Dreams and the Dreams in the Gospel Christmas Story. Come and
join us to have some fun in seeing how those dreams relate to your Recent
Dreams. The dreams in the Gospel helped to make Christmas possible. They are
mentioned 5 times in the Gospel. Check it out, and join us! Renewal Book Club
A Place at the Table, a novel by Susan Rebecca White, will be the topic of this
month's book club meeting. All are welcome to join us in the parlor on Tuesday,
December 16 at 6:30 pm.
Gleaning
Gleaning, the practice of collecting excess produce from fields, has begun again for the season. Contact Ginny Somerville for more information and keep an eye out for our church-wide gleaning project after the first of the year! Online Giving Have you explored the opportunity of electronic giving? You can choose to have a set amount taken from your bank account on a regular basis or you can make a one (or more) time gift by checking account or credit card on our website. Your regular electronic giving means that your gift is available for ministry even when you are away (or forgot your checkbook!). Thank you for your continued support of the ministry of First Congregational Church!
