Loving God, Loving Others, Serving the World

September 29, 2009

This Sunday we begin a brand new series of messages during our Sunday morning worship, God Is Big Enough . So many of us, so much of the time live fearful, joyless lives. We live like we have a small God, when we actually have a great big, loving God that wants the best for us and wants to accomplish amazing things through us. We are so excited about what God wants to do among us in the coming weeks. This is a great opportunity to invite someone you know who needs to know there is a great big God that has a great big love for them. You can forward this email to them, point them to our new website, or tell them to watch Pastor Jason's invitation on YouTube. We are going to have a great time together!

 So What About the Mirror?!

This Sunday, we finished up our series on Streams of Living Water by taking a look at the sacramental life, a life lived with and infused by Jesus. We imagined what it might look like to spend an ordinary day with Jesus. One of the "props" on the altar was a mirror. However, Pastor Jason never talked about it! If you are curious about what the mirror represents you can read about it on Jason's blog here. To watch or listen to the sermon you can head to our church website here.

For Youth

Youth in 6th-12th grade will be staying in the worship service this Sunday and afterward will be gathering for lunch and time together with Carol and Pastor Jason. We'll be talking about our great big God and our future together as the youth of First Congregational Church. Come and join us!

New Group Opportunity

If you just don't "get" what the spiritual life is all about, if you have tried to be a "good Christian" but have repeatedly failed, this group just might be for you. A fulfilling, effective spiritual life isn't based so much on will-power as it is in a healthy view of God. Led by Pastor Jason and based on the book by James Bryan Smith, this 10 week small group experience seeks to accomplish three things: teach us about the God that Jesus knew and revealed, invite us to participate in "soul training" exercises based on what we learn, and introduce us to the benefits of traveling together in our spiritual journey. We will start on Wednesday, October 28th at 7:00 PM. Contact Jason if you are interested in participating.

Join us Tuesday evening from
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM for a great meal and great fellowship!

BINGO Resumes

Next Thursday, October 8th at 6:30 PM, the doors will open on the new season of BINGO. Come join us in the fellowship hall for great fun, cash prizes, and a great way to support the ministry of our church. Thank you Harvey and Linda for heading up this great FUNdraising opportunity!

The Next Step

If you are interested in taking the next step in your journey with us at First Congregational Church, we invite you to come meet with pastor Jason on Sunday, October 11th at 9:15 AM. We will talk about who we are as a church, what our values are, and how we see ourselves as a part of what God is doing in our community and around the world. The following Sunday, October 18th, we will receive new members during our morning worship.
