Loving God, Loving Others, Serving the World

New Crossroads Released

This Sunday, we released the new format of our church's newsletter, Crossroads. We are asking everyone to do three things.

First, we are asking you to take it. We are no longer mailing our newsletter to folks that are in town unless you have contacted the office to continue to receive it, so make sure you pick a copy up when you are at church. We will have a version posted online soon.

Second, we are inviting you to read it. There are some great articles about our mission trip to Biloxi and other activities. In the coming months, we will be communicating who we are and what we are doing in our community. There will be all new articles each and every issue.

Finally, we're asking that everyone share it. The new Crossroads is beautifully designed and is a great tool for letting your friends know what is going on here at FCCLW.

Still Loving God, Loving Others,
and Serving the World

I have been thinking lately about the mission and purpose of our church: loving God, loving others, and serving the world. We didn't invent those. We simply pulled them from the instructions that Jesus gave his earliest followers.

As I observe my own life and the life of others with whom I come in contact, I am finding that Jesus was right (news, I am sure, that will be a great relief to him!). These three elements are what is important for a good life-- not a Christian life, or a religious life--but just a good life, a life that works.

We need to love God, we need to be spiritually formed. We need the assurance of love and acceptance even when the circumstances of our life and our world scream to us that we may not be loved and accepted. In loving God, and receiving God's love for us, we have a reason for living.

You can read the rest here.

Peace,

The Holy Spirit Adventure

This Sunday, we experienced another aspect of how our lives can be changed by following the example of Jesus in our series, Streams of Living Water. We introduced the Spirit-filled life by talking about "The Holy Spirit Adventure." If you missed it, you can watch Jason's message here or download it to listen to here. Next Sunday, we will continue talking about how the Holy Spirit works in our daily lives.
