Camp E.D.G.E Starts This Week!

This Thursday night kids, teens, and their families will have the opportunity to Experience and Discover God Everywhere at our weekly Vacation Bible School!

It is an opportunity to hear stories, play games, work on crafts, and spend time together experiencing the difference that a relationship with God can make in our lives. So join us this Thursday at 5:45 PM for pizza and then Camp E.D.G.E. beginning at 6:30 PM!

Have you ever wondered what it would look like if the church set about to do what Jesus did and what Jesus said during his time on earth? Well, next Friday, July 10th from 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM, you can take a peek at how a dedicated group of folks in our area are living out their understanding of what that is.

Conspire!: Plotting Goodness is a magazine published by a coalition of organizations who are living out the gospel in their daily lives. One of those organizations is Coral House Community right here in Lake Worth. They are hosting a release party for the new issue of the magazine, "Revolutionary Acts," at Praxis Cafe at 5217 North Military Trail in Lake Worth. It should be a great opportunity to meet some great folks in our community and discover some ways God is at work here in Lake Worth and across the country.

Pastor Jason and Trish are going. If you would like to join them, give them a call (561) 891-9339, or email them.

Community Dinner

Plans for our weekly community meal are still under way. Our opening night will be August 4th!

Communion

This Sunday we will together experience the privilege of coming together at God's table. And our experience this month will be extra special as we engage the subject of communion in music, word and song. What does it mean as we gather at the table. What can we get from this simple meal of bread and juice, this symbol that Jesus left for us? Let's experience and learn together this Sunday at 10:30.

Freedom

If you missed last Sunday's worship service, you might want to listen to the message on "Freedom" that Pastor Jason shared. So often in our faith journey, we find ourselves constrained by tradition and the law. Jason reminds us of Paul's proclamation to the Galatian church that "For freedom we are set free!" We have a choice to make: to live in the freedom available to us in Christ or submit to "the yoke of slavery" that is the law. We explore what we are freed from and what we are freed for as the children of God. This is also a great message to point your friends and loved ones to. It is a message of freedom that will benefit everyone!

Pastor Jason, Connected

OK, if you were born after 1970 or so, the following is going to sound downright bizarre to you, but you might want to read it anyway just for kicks.

Online social networking is a way many in the youngest two-three generations stay in touch with one another. Social networking websites allow a person to keep in touch with "friends" (which can include family, friends, old classmates, people with similar interests, etc.) on a somewhat real-time basis. One can "post" what they are doing, share their thoughts, and keep up with friends.

I participate in two such websites, Facebook and Twitter. On Facebook, we have a few of us First Congregational Church who keep in touch. On Twitter, you can "follow" me and keep up-to-date on what I am up to. (Why would you want to? There really isn't a good answer to that question. See the first sentence above.) I would love to keep up with you online. Look me up!

Peace,
Pastor Jason
