Big House This Friday!

Word is getting out that Big House is the place in Lake Worth for children and families to come and have fun and learn about how much God loves them and how we can love one another. If you know someone who still hasn't made it to a Big House service, forward this email to them so they can check out the Big House website. Remember, we'll have food and games starting at 6 PM and Big House starts at 7 PM. See you there!

LifeGroups
After helping people develop a relationship with God, the next most important function the church serves is facilitating relationships with one another. We live, and our faith is practiced, in community.

The way we foster that community here at First congregational church is through LifeGroups. LifeGroups are gatherings around shared topics of interest. They are opportunities to build life-giving relationships. In these small groups, we encourage one another and hold each other accountable as we continue our spiritual journey. We help one another and pray for one another.

We will have groups that meet every week, every two weeks, and once a month to fit everyone's schedule.

Watch this spot over the next several weeks as each of our LifeGroup opportunities are explained so you can pick which one you want to be a part of!

This Week's Sermon
"The Tools"

This week we continued exploring the story of Nehemiah, looking at some of the tools needed to build or rebulid in our lives, including vision, patience, boldness, trust, and planning. You can listen to or download the sermon here.

Next week we will talk about the importance of working together with a good crew.

80%

I recently came across a pretty enlightening statistic. According to the Barna Research Group, 80% of all those in church today (all churches across the board) began their relationship with God before they turned 18.  That is a pretty significant  number. It points to  why it is so vital for us to have engaging ministries for our children and youth.

Two things popped into my mind and heart as I reflected on this statistic. First, I was overcome with gratitude that I am able to serve in a church that understands the importance of ministry to children and youth and supports it wholeheartedly with their dollars and their time. Second, it ignited a renewed sense of urgency to continue our efforts to reach out to children and youth in our community, many of whom desperately need to hear the Good News that God loves them.

Next week...another sobering statistic and how we might respond.

Peace,
Pastor Jason
